McInroy & Wood employs more than 50 members of staff. The majority are based in Haddington. We also have a presence in London, Harrogate and Aberdeenshire.

 

We are managed by two Boards of Directors. See our Board membership for more information. Details of each director's role, experience, qualifications and location are outlined in individual biographies below.
An investment team of 16, including seven directors, share responsibility for the firm’s investment activity. Biographies of the investment team are also included below.

Tim Wood

Tim Wood
Chief Executive
Haddington

Tim Wood joined McInroy & Wood in 2000 and was appointed Managing Director in 2007 and Chief Executive in 2012. He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. Tim graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Bristol University in 1996, and then worked as an analyst for the London Stock Exchange where he gained wide experience of primary and secondary securities markets in the UK and overseas. He became a CFA® charterholder in 2003, and has particular expertise in the smaller company sector.

Simon Fraser

Simon Fraser
Non-Executive Chairman

Simon Fraser joined McInroy & Wood in 2016 as a
non-executive director with 35 years’ experience in the finance sector. He was appointed Chairman in 2017.
Simon spent 28 years at Fidelity Investments in the US, Europe and Asia and was ultimately the Chief Investment Officer based in London. Since retiring from Fidelity in 2008 he has served on a number of Boards, including as a
non-executive director of Barclays plc and Ashmore plc, and as Chairman of Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust plc and Merchants Trust plc. Simon graduated with an MA from the University of St Andrews and subsequently obtained an MBA from Columbia University in New York. He is currently a Director of Murray International Trust plc, Fidelity Funds SICAV and TS Lombard Ltd., as well as Chairman of the Investor Forum CIC.

Jonathan Jesty

Jonathan Jesty
Non-Executive Director

Jonathan Jesty joined the Board of McInroy & Wood Portfolios Limited in 2019 as an independent non-executive director. He has 35 years’ corporate, professional services and regulatory experience in the financial services industry. Jonathan has worked in asset management throughout his career, most recently at Schroders as Global Head of Compliance until he retired from his executive career in 2018. He was for many years an audit and advisory partner at KPMG. Jonathan graduated with an MA from Cambridge University, qualified as a chartered accountant and holds an MBA from London Business School.

Guido Bicocchi

Guido Bicocchi is Director of Investment based in Haddington. He is a member of the Investment Team and chairs the stock selection and asset allocation meetings. Guido joined McInroy & Wood with over 10 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He graduated in Accounting and Finance at Robert Gordon University and, after qualifying as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, he worked in Aberdeen Asset Management’s private equity team where he was responsible at board level for a portfolio of small and medium sized companies.

Wendy Ferguson

Wendy Ferguson
Director of Operations & IT

Wendy Ferguson is responsible for all areas of the firm’s operations as Director of Operations & IT. Wendy joined McInroy & Wood with 22 years’ experience in the financial services industry. Wendy studied Accountancy at Aberdeen University and qualified as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1994. She was invited to join one of her clients, Scottish Widows, in 1998, where she held senior management roles across a range of functions, including the chief executive’s office, operations, finance and risk. Immediately prior to joining McInroy & Wood, Wendy was Head of Financial Services at Grant Thornton, specialising in risk management and internal audit.

Antonia Fraser

Antonia Fraser
Director of Administration

Antonia Fraser is director in charge of administration on behalf of clients and is based in Haddington. She is devoted to providing clients and their agents with a personal service. Outside her investment work she participates in local enterprise through her interest in the family furniture business.

John Marshall is an investment director based in London. 
He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. 
John joined McInroy & Wood with over 30 years’ experience in international financial services including extensive periods in Asia. He graduated in Commerce from Edinburgh University and subsequently obtained an MBA at Henley Business School. Prior to joining McInroy & Wood he was a managing director with ING.

Campbell McAulay

Campbell McAulay

Campbell McAulay is Finance Director, Head of Unit Trust Operations and Company Secretary. After graduating in Law at Edinburgh University in 1990, Campbell qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Glasgow.
Having gained experience in corporate advisory work, he spent eight years as Director of Finance and Company Secretary with George Inglis & Co., a privately owned printing and publishing group.

Francis Seymour

Francis Seymour

Francis Seymour is an investment director based in London. He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. After qualifying as a solicitor Francis joined the investment department of the merchant bank, Guinness Mahon, in 1983. He was subsequently a founding director of Guinness Flight Global Asset Management in 1987.
During his investment career he has managed UK, European and Global equity funds and, since 1993, has specialised in global emerging market equities.

David Shaw Stewart

David Shaw Stewart is an investment director based in Haddington. He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW Funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. David joined McInroy & Wood in 2001, having been an international investment manager since 1984. After graduating in History at Cambridge in 1977, he qualified as a chartered accountant with Ernst & Whinney in London before working in the finance department of Hawker Siddeley, a large engineering group. He returned to Scotland to join Stewart Ivory, the Edinburgh-based fund management company, where he became a director. Following a period as head of European equities there, he became head of UK equities and managed a number of major pension fund and institutional clients.

Hugo Swann

Hugo Swann is an investment director based in London.
He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships.
Hugo joined McInroy & Wood with 16 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including extensive involvement in both international and emerging equity markets. He graduated in Economics from Durham University and, after qualifying as a chartered accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, he worked as a director in the European Equity department of Credit Suisse, where he provided investment research and analysis of companies for institutional fund managers.

Charles White

Charles White

Charles White is an investment director based in London. 
He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. Charles joined McInroy & Wood with over 20 years' experience in the financial services industry. He graduated from Oxford in Theology and Greek. Prior to joining McInroy & Wood, Charles was Managing Director of a specialist investment management subsidiary of N M Rothschild. His career in financial services has also involved banking and mergers and acquisitions with ABN Amro and ING Barings.

Joy Young

Joy Young
Director of Risk & Compliance

Joy joined McInroy & Wood with 23 years' experience in the financial services industry. After graduating in Law at Aberdeen University, she qualified as a lawyer and worked in private practice, corporate law acquisitions and mergers.
Joy then moved in-house with Martin Currie Investment Management Limited, initially as an in-house counsel and then as Group Director of Legal & Compliance.
Subsequently, she was Head of Legal & Compliance for a leading corporate finance group, Director of Compliance at State Street Trustees Limited and Compliance Director for the Alliance Trust group. Joy is responsible for ensuring that the firm complies with all relevant laws and regulations, including financial crime, and that its Risk Management Framework is effective.

Robin Irwin

Robin Irwin is an investment manager based in Harrogate. He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. Robin joined McInroy & Wood with over 18 years' experience in managing global investments. He graduated in Agriculture from Newcastle University and was one of the founding partners of the Alternative Strategies team at Rand Merchant Bank. Robin moved back to Yorkshire and into private client investment management in 2012.

Jamie Knibbs

Jamie Knibbs is an investment manager based in Haddington. He is a member of the Investment Team and is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. Jamie graduated in Natural Sciences from Cambridge, and before joining McInroy & Wood, spent over 10 years working internationally in the oil and gas industry for Shell, Hess and Premier Oil.

Will Lindsay

Will Lindsay

Will Lindsay is an investment manager based in Haddington. He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships.
Will joined McInroy & Wood with over 9 years' experience in the financial services industry. He graduated in Economics from the University of Nottingham, and then spent a number of years working with technology in the financial sector in London, and a startup in Edinburgh. Will has a specific interest in emerging markets.

Adam Linton

Adam Linton is an investment analyst based in Haddington. He is a member of the Investment Team and is involved in the research and analysis of existing holdings and potential investment ideas. Adam graduated with a first-class degree in Law (with options in Accountancy) at undergraduate level, and a distinction in Finance and Investment Management at MSc level, both from the University of Aberdeen.

Cameron MacKinnon

Cameron MacKinnon

Cameron MacKinnon is an investment manager based in Haddington. He is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships. Cameron joined McInroy & Wood with 5 years’ experience in the financial services industry.
Having graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first-class degree in Business Studies and Accountancy, he qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte before moving into their corporate finance advisory practice where he focused on mergers and acquisitions involving Scottish companies.

Emily McCorkell

Emily McCorkell is an investment manager based in Haddington and a CFA® charterholder. She is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships.
She graduated from the University of St Andrews with a first-class degree in English before joining McInroy & Wood in 2013. In 2016, Emily was named as one of the "Top 40 Under 40" for the Private Asset Managers’ (PAM) Awards, an accolade designed to recognise the most promising young people in private client investment management. She has a particular interest in global smaller companies.

Liz Wild

Liz Wild is an investment manager based in Harrogate. 
She is a member of the Investment Team, is involved in the management of segregated portfolios and the MW funds, and has responsibility for a number of client relationships.  
Liz returned to McInroy & Wood in 2016, having previously spent four years with the firm at its Haddington office earlier in her career. She graduated in Biology from Manchester University in 1998, and then started her career at J O Hambro Investment Management in London. Liz has a particular interest in smaller companies and is also responsible for managing specialist inheritance tax efficient portfolios.

Vincent Wong

Victor Wood

Victor Wood
Haddington

Victor Wood co-founded McInroy & Wood in 1986 and has been continuously involved in the investment field since 1966 when he graduated at Oxford having read Greats.  After training as an investment analyst in the US and London he joined an independent Edinburgh-based investment trust where his responsibilities included supervising funds in the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia.  He served as a director of a venture capital investment company and also a member of the General Committee of the Association of Investment Trust Companies.  Outside his investment management work, he has served as a member of the Board of Stewardship and Finance of the Church of Scotland, and on public and private bodies in the fields of education and health care.  He is an occasional contributor to various professional journals of articles on investment and related topics.
