McInroy & Wood Limited is a personal investment manager, providing a discretionary investment management service for private clients. It has a single subsidiary, McInroy & Wood Portfolios Limited, which acts as manager for five authorised unit trusts which are also accessible to direct investors. Both companies are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. 

McInroy & Wood is committed to preserving the privacy of our clients, direct investors and any other individuals with whom we establish a relationship either directly or through this website. 

This privacy policy explains how we use any personal information that we collect about you. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, both McInroy & Wood Limited and McInroy & Wood Portfolios Limited are data controllers. Our registration numbers with the Information Commissioner’s Office are Z5037103 (McInroy & Wood Limited) and Z2965605 (McInroy & Wood Portfolios Limited). 

By using our website or by otherwise providing us with your information you consent to the collection, storage, use and transfer of your information under the terms of this privacy policy.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect information about you when you apply to invest in one of our unit trusts or from when you initially contact us to discuss establishing a discretionary investment management relationship. We also collect information from you when you fill in any forms on our website. If you contact us by phone or email, we may keep a record of that correspondence. You agree that our telephone conversations with you can be recorded by us. In particular, we are required to record all telephone conversations and electronic communications that are intended to result in the execution of an order e.g. where you give a specific instruction to execute a trade on your behalf.

The type of information that we collect will include your personal details e.g. your name, contact details, email address etc. We also collect website usage information using cookies when you access our website. This will include your unique IP address.

How will we use the information we collect about you?

We collect information about you:

  • To enable us to provide the investment management services you require
  • To process your application to invest in our funds
  • To provide clients and investors with information relevant to their investment and our services
  • To send you occasional topical articles and inform you about events which we organise and which may be of interest to you
  • For our internal record keeping
  • To ensure that our website is presented in the most effective manner for you and your device
  • For all other purposes consistent with the proper performance of our operations and services

All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers with industry standard anti-virus and firewall protection in place. Unfortunately the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted online or through the website. Any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try and prevent unauthorised access.

We process all data in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. We may disclose your data to other third parties who act for us and to our business partners for the purposes set out in this privacy policy or for purposes approved by you. We will share your information with third-party business partners with whom we have contracted to help us provide our service to you. We ensure that our business partners have in place robust procedures to ensure the privacy and security of your personal data.

We may also disclose your information if we are legally obliged to make certain information available to regulatory bodies or authorities (such as the Financial Conduct Authority). We may have to send your data to organisations which help us to confirm your identity and thereby comply with Anti-Money Laundering regulations, or for other purposes (such as the detection of crime). 

We will not under any circumstances share your information for marketing purposes with any organisation outside McInroy & Wood. 

Your rights in relation to your personal information

  • check whether we hold information about you;
  • ask to see a copy of the information we hold about you; and under certain circumstances:
    • ask us to rectify any inaccurate and/or complete any incomplete personal information we hold about you;

    • ask us to erase your personal information;
    • ask us to provide certain of your personal information to you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have it transferred to another provider of the same or similar services.

We may charge an administration fee of up to the legal maximum from time to time in force. In addition to the rights set out above, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office or any superseding or replacement body.
