Working for McInroy & Wood

Our approach to investment is based on an open mind and a long-term perspective. We take the same approach to recruitment.

Our people are at the heart of our past and future success as a firm. We are a relatively small team, and we take pride in our friendly, collegiate approach and client-focused culture. Established in 1986, McInroy & Wood is owned by employees and directors, with the controlling share held by the Wood family.

Successful candidates are those that thrive on early responsibility and take pleasure in knowing that they have a valuable role from their very first day. We hope that they will build their careers with us over many years. In return, we build on their personal strengths and offer both structured training and personal development. Our development programmes encourage each individual to evolve and grow alongside the firm.

“The human aspect of our
work is what has made it
so rich and stimulating”

Victor Wood
Co-founder of McInroy & Wood

We fully support our employees in having a healthy work-life balance so that they can pursue their passions, hobbies and commitments outside the working environment. We eschew the long-hours culture so prevalent in professional services. Instead, we trust our people to manage their time and ask for support when it is needed – and in turn support their colleagues too.

We offer a competitive salary, company pension and private healthcare to all of our employees.

McInroy & Wood’s operational headquarters is in Haddington, around 20 miles outside Edinburgh. We also have offices in Harrogate and London.

GAIN

McInroy & Wood support the Girls are INvestors (GAIN) initiative and in 2021 we hosted our first dedicated GAIN internship. GAIN is a community of investors whose aim is to broaden gender diversity within the investment management industry. The initiative seeks to inform and inspire young women to consider careers in investment management through talks in schools and universities, as well as building resources to support women through the early years of their career.
